Ragdoll Cat History
This breed is considered to be in younger lots. In the 1960s, the first breed was developed by Ann Baker in Riverside, California. It was her foundation that created the cat’s new identity by concealing the real genes. The criteria she wanted were breeds with a gentle nature and big in size adorned with nice long hair with the Himalayan style pattern. And that is how the Ragdoll was born. But the version was developed with contribution from other breeds such as Persians, Birmans and Burmese.
Ragdoll Cat Size
The size is different for males and females. The male can weigh up to 20 pounds while the female was commonly gaining only 10 to 15 pounds.
Ragdoll Cat Personality

They will take every opportunity to cuddle with anyone and follow his tail wherever he goes. This one is an absolutely docile, loving and gentle cat yet they are very energetic and active. They like to learn tricks and will master them very quickly with good reinforcement. They are well-behaved cats that will be very nice to have at home.
Ragdoll Cat Health
This breed can suffer some health problems that are caused by their genetic. Here they are:
- Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

- A predisposition to FIP (feline infectious peritonitis)
Ragdoll Cat Care and Grooming
Grooming time is a happy time for your kitty. Though the hair is long yet the undercoat is very little. The advantage is they do not get mats easily and they do not shed a lot as well. Combing can be done twice a week. Yet, it should be done thoroughly. You may use a stainless steel comb and a rubber curry brush after it. Their tail can have some bits of poop which should be wiped clean. You may bathe them when you think they need it especially when the fur is stringy. The teeth should be brushed daily and the nails need to be trimmed once a week. Wipe the corners of their eyes well and so are their ears but use different clothes. Their litter box should be fitted for their big size and you should clean it from time to time.
Ragdoll Cat Coat and Colors
They are quite massive in size and their semi-long haired make them appear so glamorous and dainty. The pattern of the coat is pretty pointed. The eyes are charming in the blue hue. Compared to their body which is much lighter in color, their face is much darker and so are the ears, tail, and legs. Overall, they come in three types of pattern like mitted, bicolor and colorpoint like a seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red, and cream or solid, lynx, tortie, or torbie. The coat texture is very smooth and silky in the face and shoulder parts, the hair gets shorter. Yet things can be different according to each different cat association.
