The development started in 1986 when Patrick Kelly and Joyce Sroufe found out that there was a cat named savannah which was the result of a crossing between a domestic cat and African wild breed and they got interested in creating a brand new breed since then. The cat finally got its full recognition in 2012.

Savannah Cat Care and Grooming
As far as they care is concerned, this cat is very low maintenance. They get a medium length coat which should be brushed at least once a week. Their teeth should be brushed well daily or at least once every week. You may let them live outdoors, but with good enclosure yet it is always safer to have them indoor only since there is so much danger out there. In addition, some cities do not allow you to keep hybrid or exotic cats so get yourself well informed.
Savannah Cat Coat and Color
You may find this breed in several colors and patterns such as black, brown, or black spotted tabby; black silver spotted tabby and black smoke. And for the background, there are also several of them like solid black or dark brown spots on golden, cream, sandy as well as white. Their markings are also very striking which make them look so different from other breeds. Some of them are round or oval with the others are elongated. There are also ones that have a coat with marble patterns.
