Snowshoe Cat History
This cat is much like the Siamese in look for, they are pointed cat with some dark areas on their body in several different parts. The cat was first seen in the late Victorian era, yet the development was not started before the mid 20th century. In 1950, this breed was seen as making it very short timed appearance until in 1960, the snowshoes were finally fully created by Dorothy Hinds-Daugherty. In 1982, The Cat Fanciers Federation followed by American Cat Fanciers Association in 1990 and The International Cat Association in 1994.

Snowshoe cat is medium in size and normally they will weigh around 9 to 12 pounds. However, the female ones can be quite small. They commonly weigh 7 to 10 pounds.

This breed is known for bossy manner, nagging mom-like acts yet these cats are simply sweet and affectionate. Apart from that, they are also very intelligent, lively and active. The entertaining cat can be very shy to strangers. They like to have one favorite person in the family to follow around and give their fondest attention. As far as the health of this breed is concerned, both the both pedigreed and mixed-breed cats may suffer several health problems related to their genetic. Though generally very healthy, there are cases you may find them with cosmetic flaws such as crossing eyes, kinky tail. But these things have nothing to do with their health as well as ability.

Their coat should be brushed twice a week and their teeth should be brushed daily or at least once every week. Keep this beautiful cat indoors if you want them to be safe from any danger.
Snowshoe Cat Coat and Color
This breed got a short coat but with amazingly smooth texture. Though they are born completely white, as they grow there are some points will show up. Their white coat is slowly turning into cream to beige or tan adorned with seal and blue points. There are some of them come with point’s colors such as lilac and chocolate, but they are very rarely seen. As for the pattern, it is highly affected by their genes. No one will have perfect markings as expected. But it is considered better if the marking is more symmetrical.
