The cat is a result of genetic mutation and it was the Elizabeth owner from Toronto, Canada who first tried to reproduce the hairless cats with the furred ones. This breed was recognized previously as hairless Canadian but it was the International Cat Association that gave the name moniker Sphynx because of its similar philosophical trait of great sculpture in the Egyptian desert for its smoothness.

To take care of this cat is to be patient. Though they got no hairs on their coat, they still need grooming regime which is almost similar to breeds with furs. You need to moisturize the skin well with scent-free lotion or oil. Moreover, they need to be bathed once a week using baby shampoo or moisturizing shampoo. Since there are wrinkles and folds on their body a lot, make sure you rinse them thoroughly. Their teeth should be brushed at least once a week. Wipe the corners of their eyes every day using clean damp cloth. Their litter box should be cleaned from time to time since this cat cannot stand too much dirt on it. Since the cat has no hairs to keep them warm, buy them a sweater when it gets chilly. They should be kept indoors since they are too weak to the unforgiving world of outdoors. But if you take them out, make sure to apply sunscreen for the cat on their skin.

When you touch their body, it feels pleasantly warm because they do not have a higher body temperature, unlike the other breeds and the non-insulated fur can be the reason why.
